How to Disable Auto RUN Programs

It is very common that we make some programs run automatically but later we change computer use or we simply change our mind and decide to not run the program automatically. Not to mention some of the programs by default , run without asking your permission. Here is a simple way to change the settings and stop those programs from running automatically.

1. Open "RUN" dialog box by clicking the Windows Logo+R and click RUN .

2. Type in "misconfig" in the dialog box. (In some computers, it will open a user control warning....just click "CONTINUE")

3. New window "SYSTEM CONFIGURATION" will open and click "SERVICES" tab. It will show all the programs that are set to run automatically.

4. UNCHECK the program you want to stop running automatically. Click "ok" and that's it. It will ask you to restart in order for the latest to work or restart later, just pick your choice and there you go, the next time you start your PC, it will stop the programs you set to stop running automatically

How to get rid of fake windows 7 security virus alert

Yes this just happened last week with my girlfriend WINDOWS 7 netbook and worked for me without having to download software. How to remove Fake virus alert are those irritating fake virus scanners that starts automatically and looked like the image I posted on right. It usually blocked you from using your browser , unable to open task manager and inability to scan or open your anti virus program. If you suffer from this you will need to read further , it is very easy how to remove Virus Alert and hope it will help others too.

All I did was reboot my pc and try logging in on "safe mode with networking". You can do this usually on windows 7 netbooks I try to repeatedly clicking the f7 button before windows start up and it will send you to a windows option and click "f8" for advance options. Now it will send you to window that look like the picture below.

Now click and choose to log in "Safe Mode with Networking" . Once WINDOWS is done loading , go to CONTROL PANEL and click "System and Security". Your window should look like

Click "Recover system settings on your computer"

It will open a window that look like below and click "NEXT"

You may choose to click "show more restore points" and choose a date back before you had the problem. It will open a "CONFIRM YOUR RESTORE POINT" window, just click "finish". Your system will try to restore ......DO NOT DO ANYTHING, just let your computer do the job UNTIL IT RESTART.

After it restarted, it should confirm that your system restore completed successfully.

Windows Internet Explorer 9 Beta

I just recently reformatted my netbook and my laptop , I thought of just wanting a fresh clean pc and I noticed my computer then was getting slow with all the "add ons". That was just 2 days ago where I installed insternet explorer on Windows regular update. Now I have seen Internet Explorer 9 Beta version popping up. So tried it, immediately I see the familiarity of the window. It look just like Google Chrome and encourage to disable ad ons to make the browser faster. Hmmmmm about time they do something. I'll stick and test this some more to see what good changes they made.

This is one of the coolest thing added in Gmail . What about the ability to call for free right from your GMAIL. Yes I have tried it and it works for free. I got excited just trying it although am not gonna use it much but I know there would be lots of people out there that can use this calls for free service. All I did was visit this LINK and install the plug in for your GMAIL then reboot your browser, log in to your gmail account (email) then on left panel u will see the "call phone". That's it , you are set for a free call to U.S. and Canada with nothing to but log in to your Gmail in any browser.

SKYPE v/s MAGIC JACK

I've been asked few times which one is my preference between the two. I would say is there a comparison? For me huh , magic jack is cool but it just don't meet my needs. I won't mind spending extra $10-20 for whole year subscription is it has all the things that I needed for VOIP. WHY NOT MAGIC JACK? for one thing, magic jack neede pc to use.You plug the gizmo to a pc , install driver and there it converts your USB plug into a RJ11 socket (phone plug). SO in short, you need a computer to use the unit. Hmmmmm if I would just use the computer to call, I might as well pc to pc call then it's free..totally!! there I can view the person am talking to on cam lol. Yes magic jack has one yr subscription and a phone number included....but, I can get that without having to plug a gizmo???? so why gizmo? just so you can plug the phone right? Actually if MJ will have the feature that I needed, then i would switch to MJ anytime..... Why I choose skype? Number one thing, lots of ways to call, I can use an cellphone , symbian , you can still use your pc, or use a wifi skype phone or wireless skype phone you dont need to be tied to your pc, that's number one thing and you dont need even a pc on if you choose..Now even "skype to go" number, this is a number you can dial from your cellphone and you can access your skype subscription.There is call forwarding included with your subscription and you can set up your caller id.

HOW TO CALL INTERNATIONAL UNLIMITED DIRECTLY FROM YOUR CELLPHONE ? Like what I do, I subscribe to unlimited world with that I can call 40 countries directly from my cellphone, unlimited!!! how? I go to skype account, buy the "unlimited world" subscription. after that , I set up my account for a "skype to go" number. This is an access number you will dial from your cellphone, like a card access numbers. although this one is prepaid already and set up automatically and recognize your cellphone number. Then log in to your account on your cellphone provider site, in my case I have AT&T, so I log in at&t and added that skype to go number I activated in skype so I can call this number unlimited from my cellphone, like T-mobile my faves. You just simply add the number to your unlimited calling. Now with that set. You can now dial that skype to go number from your cellphone for free, then that access number will ask you what number international you wanted to dial..(note:this only worked if you subscribe monthly unlimited or yearly to SKYPE for unlimited u.s. and canada comparable to magic jack is 19.95/yr skype is 36.00/yr minus 15 % off for promo ;P) Like I said I dont mind paying extra 20 $ for portability because if I am stuck using pc, no need to plug a gizmo..Next blog I would explain how to recieve call from a skype and let your provider think it's mobile to mobile unlimited lol. now can magic jack do that?

CONCLUSION: THIS post is mainly my personal opinion and what I believe works best for my personal need regarding the comparison. Magic Jack is good for people who don't mind being tied up on computer. Just do your own research before you decide which one best for you.

Best free anti virus software

From time to time I talk to few friends that come across this nasty web virus. I know lots of internet users know how easy a PC could get infected. I always recommend my friends to use AVG free version for basic protection and it does not slow down the speed of your PC. I used to subscribe expensive Norton live updates but I still get infected. Now I am using the free version of AVG antivirus and I have no problem for almost a year now.

Changing the Desktop Background for Windows 7 starter

When I bought my new netbook few months ago it never occured to me to change the desktop backgroud or shall I say customize it...Just recently I wanted to change it and now realizing that Windows 7 starter version don't let you change background just that easy compare to XP and previous versions....I can upgrade my operatng system for that purpose or I can somehow install a program to do the trick. Like usual, I was using the google search and there. I just found the trick to my problem. I installed Oceanis Change Background Windows 7. It worked for my netbook.
